Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on August 17.

With All In just a week away, this week's show was almost entirely devoted to building up the PPV. Here is a look at what was advertised for Saturday's show.

    • Eddie Kingston addresses All In
    • Toni Storm debuts a new film
    • FTR vs. Acclaimed
    • Jack Perry in action
    • The Kingdom vs. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara
    • Britt Baker vs. Harley Cameron

Let's take a look at everything that happened on this week's Collision.

Britt Baker vs. Harley Cameron

1 of 8

    Collision.AEW

Collision opened with Baker getting a great reaction for her entrance to take on Cameron, who was surprisingly alone instead of accompanied by Saraya.

Cameron still doesn't have a lot of experience under her belt, so Baker had to be the ring general here. She did a good job making Cameron look good, but the Australian singer was also showing more signs of improvement.

This was a lot more competitive than it needed to be. Baker is a former champion and top star while Cameron is still establishing herself, so nobody would have been surprised if this was a one-sided fight.

DMD picked up the win in roughly eight minutes, but her victory celebration was interrupted by Mercedes and Kamille. The Brickhouse decimated Baker and left her lying on the mat.

    Result: Baker defeated Cameron

    Grade: C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • This was only Cameron's tenth AEW match.
    • Cameron's scream is bloodcurdling.
    • Baker's sling blade could use some work.

The Kingdom vs. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara

2 of 8

One member of the ROH six-man champions was looking to add more gold this week when Rhodes teamed up with Guevara to challenge Mike Bennett and Matt Taven for the ROH tag titles.

The son of the American Dream and Mr. Kanellis started with a furious exchange of strikes to immediately set the tone for this bout.

All four of these men are gifted technicians and strikes, but the addition of Guevara's high-flying ability allowed for some great high spots.

Rhodes still moves like a man half his age, so he was uppercutting and powerslamming his opponents left and right.

Bennett narrowly saved Taven from being pinned by a Cross Rhodes before Roderick Strong and Beast Mortos interfered. The Von Erichs, The Conglomeration and the Cage of Agony all arrived and began brawling at ringside.

In a somewhat surprising outcome, Rhodes and Guevara ended up getting the win to become the new ROH tag champs. Dustin being a double champion in 2024 is wild.

Result: Rhodes and Guevara defeated The Kingdom

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • It's surprising AEW didn't make a bigger deal out of Guevara's return.
    • Guevara's hair staying tied back as long as it did was impressive.
    • Tony Schiavone confused Taven for Bennett for a moment.
    • Everyone in the ringside brawl seemed to just disappear up the ramp.

Hologram vs. Angelico

3 of 8

AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From Aug. 17 (4)

    Collision.AEW

AEW original creation Hologram was back in action against Angelico this week. Both of these men are practitioners of the lucha style but in different ways.

Angelico focused on the technical side of lucha libre with unique takedowns and submissions while Hologram is the typical high-flyer.

This was a match with no story and no buildup, but it still ended up being one of the best performances you will see all week purely because of the skill on display.

We saw a little bit of everything in this bout that included some of the most creative offense you will see in any promotion.

The level of polish on Angelico's moves is almost unmatched, but it was Hologram who came away with the win and Angelico's respect.

    Result: Hologram defeated Angelico

    Grade: B+

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Chris Jericho using the term Jericho Vortex ironically is not as funny as he thinks it is.
    • Angelico's entrance music is decent but it feels like it's missing something.
    • Hologram's suicide dive was nuts. He looked like he was floating.
    • Angelico's transitions look so smooth and natural.

Jack Perry Beats a Guy Up

4 of 8

Jack Perry took on a local talent who used DallasSingles.com as part of his introduction for some reason. The Scapegoat won in less than a minute.

After the match was over, Perry painted the guy's face white and put him in a body bag along with the TNT title. He revealed a new design for the TNT belt that was mostly black.

    Result: Perry won

    Grade: Incomplete

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Perry looks better without the goat mask and long jacket. He should stick to the look he had here.
    • The new TNT title looks like it was designed by the employees at a Hot Topic.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Lio Rush

5 of 8

AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From Aug. 17 (6)

    Collision.AEW

In a big mismatch, the high-flying Lio Rush took on the powerful Claudio Castagnoli in singles action.

These men are as different as it gets in both size and style, but the thing they have in common is a high level of versatility.

Castagnoli used his size advantage and power to control the pace while Rush used his speed and agility to come up with creative counters and escapes.

Rush narrowly avoided a countout only to walk into a massive uppercut. A popup uppercut a few moments later secured the victory for the Swiss Superman to end a fun exhibition.

    Result: Castagnoli defeated Rush

    Grade: B

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Top Flight came out with Rush but did not stay at ringside.
    • The way Castagnoli countered a poison rana and a hurricanrana with almost no effort was awesome.
    • Rush may be small, but Castagnoli catching him the way he did during a suicide dive was impressive.

Mariah May Gets an Easy Win

6 of 8

AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From Aug. 17 (7)

    Collision.AEW

Mariah May defeated a local talent in a matter of seconds to pick up another easy win, but as soon as it was over, Toni Storm's newest film aired.

The video was quick and to the point. May took out her anger on her innocent opponent with a high heel.

    Result: May won

    Grade: Incomplete

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Interestingly, May carries her Owen Hart belt but none of the other winners have.
    • May did a good job looking irate.

FTR vs. The Acclaimed

7 of 8

AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction, Highlights From Aug. 17 (8)

    Collision.AEW

Max Caster performed his usual pre-match rap from backstage before he and Anthony Bowens took on Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.

The first few minutes saw some basic lockups and sequences. They kept things technical, which was a little surprising after seeing how bitter this feud has become.

It was hard to tell if they were pacing themselves to stretch for time or not, but business picked up a bit as we got to the first commercial break.

This bout was given a lot of time, so they made sure that all four men had plenty of chances to stand out. We saw several close two-counts, some solid double-team wrestling, and their chemistry continued to grow as the match progressed.

This match probably didn't need to be this long, but we're never going to complain about wrestlers getting more time when they are putting on a good show.

The final few minutes is when the crowd got on its feet as all for men started leaving everything they had left in the ring. This was the best match either team has had in months.

After several false finishes, we ended up with a time-limit draw. The crowd and all four wrestlers were not happy with this result. Everyone brawled as the show went off the air while Schiavone revealed both teams would be in the tag title match at Wembley.

    Result: Draw

    Grade: A-

    Notable Moments and Observations

    • Caster's rap was definitely not his best.
    • This match got started with almost 30 minutes left in the show.
    • Harwood's German suplex always looks good. He does it the textbook way and always lands it safely.
    • Wheeler has been packing on some muscle.
    • The superplex combo from The Acclaimed looked really good.
    • Harwood's superplex almost ended in disaster but Bowens landed semi-safely.

The Final Word

8 of 8

This week's Collision was an average episode as a whole, but it had some big highs and big lows instead of everything being down the middle.

Two squash matches on any show are never going to be ideal, but with bouts like Hologram vs. Angelico and FTR vs. Acclaimed making up for that, the show was still worth watching.

Not only is AEW still devoting most of its time to building up All In, but it has also begun to set up All Out on September 7.

FTR vs. Acclaimed is an easy pick for Match of the Night, but Hologram's win and Castagnoli vs. Rush are also worth taking time to watch.
