Greek Villa SW 7551: Your Perfect Soft White Paint Shade? (2024)

Read all about Sherwin Williams Greek Villa, plus see 25+ real homes that use it!

Off-whites, greiges, and pastels are some of the most popular paint colors, and it’s easy to see why. They aren’t too dark and coordinate incredibly well with lots of different colors. All in all, they play the role of that super agreeable friend who gets along with everyone. You know the one. 😉

But, like with many good friends, there can sometimes be a slight downside. Off-whites, especially, are notoriously HARD to choose because you have to factor in SO many different elements, including base color, undertones, surrounding lighting and decor, and more.

On top of that, you may be considering 37 different whites, but they all look the SAME until you really dig into them and start adding them to your walls. Well, friends, that’s the entire reason behind writing this paint color series. I want to be able to provide some additional information for each color to help you feel confident in picking colors that you’ll love in your home!

Today’s blog post color is a good one. I may go as far as to say that Sherwin Williams Greek Villa doesn’t really have a downside. Reminiscent of villas on the Greek hillsides, this color is timeless and stunning.

Let’s check out Greek Villa SW 7551 to see if it might be a hue that could work well in your home (spoiler: it most likely will!).

FAQs About SW Greek Villa

Does Sherwin Williams Greek villa look yellow?

Greek Villa does have a touch of yellow undertone with maybe a wink of green, but it usually reads as a neutral soft, and creamy off-white without really any yellow at all.

What undertones does SW Greek Villa have?

This white paint color looks very sophisticated and chic, thanks to its neutral base. It has just the teensiest bit of yellow and green undertones that read as beige rather than yellow and green.

Now here’s the thing: whites and off-whites are highly reflective colors. So even though I say this color doesn’t have strong undertones and reads as neutral, that can go out the door as soon as it is next to other colors it might reflect.

For example, Greek Villa doesn’t have pink undertones, but it can look a tad pink if it’s around pink, rose, peach, coral, or other similar colors.

NOTE: I always strongly recommend getting paint swatches for every color you seriously consider painting in your home. Even colors that I may say don’t read a certain way CAN sometimes in just the right environment.

Greek Villa Paint LRV

Let’s take a quick look at the numbers for Greek Villa paint. Just looking at paint colors will yield very subjective results. That’s why I recommend getting a bigger picture evaluation of any paint color by combining objective evaluation methods with subjective ones.

Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a number ranging between 0 and 100. Each color has an assigned LRV number to indicate how much light a color reflects. Zero represents pure black because it doesn’t reflect ANY light, while 100 represents pure white because it reflects ALL the light.

To put it simply, darker shades have lower LRV numbers, and lighter shades have higher LRV numbers.

The LRV of SW Greek Villa = 84

This value puts Sherwin Williams Greek Villa firmly in the light range. It’s an off-white, but not a dark one, even by off-white or cream standards.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Compared to Other Colors

I love comparing similar colors side by side so that I can get a more accurate picture of a specific color’s undertones. Here’s how Sherwin Williams Greek Villa stacks up against three other popular paint colors.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa vs Alabaster

If you were to paint each of these colors on the wall (not next to each other), they would probably both look off-white and pretty similar to each other.

By putting them side by side, you can see that SW Alabaster reads as a little more gray and muted than Greek Villa. Plus, with an LRV of 82, it’s also just a wink darker.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa vs Pure White

Both of these colors have the same LRV (84), so that just means that one isn’t darker than the other. But they each look pretty different!

SW Pure White is a cool, bluish-white that can feel very bright and even stark in some situations.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa vs Creamy

With an LRV of 81, Creamy by Sherwin Williams is a tad darker than Greek Villa.

Both shades have warmth, but Creamy has stronger yellow undertones and will read as, well, creamier and more yellow than SW Greek Villa will.

Real Life Homes Using Sherwin Williams Greek Villa

Are you ready for some fun? I’m ready! Seeing how the paint color looks in real homes is a great way to help you pick the color you want.

Let’s see real-life examples of this paint as I show you 25+ real homes using Sherwin Williams Greek Villa paint.

Bedrooms Painted in SW Greek Villa

Sheen Note: Color isn’t the only paint choice that needs to be made! Don’t forget to select the right paint finish for your project! Learn about selecting the appropriate paint sheen here.

1. Warm White Paint Color

If you love a versatile off-white to light beige color, I think this image shows Greek Villa’s strong side: it’s a warm off-white color that looks incredible with nearly every other color!

2. Greek Villa Painted Bedroom

Bright natural light always makes colors look lighter and brighter. Here, in this bedroom from Blushing Boho Design the color reads as white, but a lovely soft white that looks fabulous with this monochromatic color scheme.

3. On the Sunny Side (but only a bit)

If you’re leery of yellow undertones, I have good news: this is as yellow as Greek Villa gets.

And that’s because the low natural light, yellow artificial light bulbs, and wood tones work hard to bring it out. Instead of looking yellow, the paint reads as a soft creamy color.

4. Nursery Painted SW Greek Villa

Add this soft dreamy color to a nursery, like seen here from Pretty Passive. It’ll make the perfect backdrop for all your cute decorations! Where can I get that fun throw rug?

5. Cooperates with Coastal Spaces

If you have coastal decor, definitely check out Greek Villa as an option. That’s the very inspiration for the color, after all! I love this color with navy blue.

What a huge different paint (and a new window) can make for a room makeover.

6. Timeless White

A timeless color like this one looks terrific anywhere and can be used in an entire room. I love the very slight beige undertone coming through against the wood tones of the furniture and accents in this bedroom from West Elm.

7. Neutral in Northern Exposure

This room has lots of cool natural light (possibly a north-facing room in this home), allowing Greek Villa to read as a perfectly neutral off-white. It’s bright enough that it looks white but also soft enough that it doesn’t appear too bright.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Living Rooms

8. Living Room Painted SW Greek Villa

This room from Emily Henderson is a terrific example of how neutral this paint color is. In the light…in the shadows…no obvious undertones are coming through.

9. Bending Toward Beige

Here, Sherwin Williams Greek Villa is obviously white, but I’m picking up the slight beige undertones thanks to the low natural light and wood and brass accents.

If you’re having a hard time seeing them, I think they’re especially noticeable around the wall picture and in the bottom right of the picture.

10. Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Living Room

All white and off-white paints reflect the colors that are present in the surrounding decor. Here in Twelve on Main‘s living room, Greek Villa walls look very beige as they reflect the brown from the wood beams.

But notice it only looks this way up at the top where the natural light doesn’t hit the walls. Below the windows, the walls are white.

11. Looks Great with (the RIGHT) Gray

Feel free to pair Greek Villa with a warm, light gray. Emily of Table and Hearth uses Dorian Gray on this cabinetry. See how gorgeous they look together?

12. Neutral Living Area Painted Greek Villa

Once again, the beige undertone is coming through thanks to the low natural light and wood tones in this room from What the Fab. The effect is slight, but if you look, it’s there.

Kitchens Painted Greek Villa

Sheen Note: For kitchens, higher sheen = more durability and ease for cleaning! In higher traffic areas like kitchens, avoid flat paint. Instead opt for eggshell or satin on the walls, and something even glossier for cabinetry. Learn more about selecting the right paint finish here.

13. Greek Villa Kitchen Cabinets

I have to say, Greek Villa is one of my favorite kitchen cabinet colors! The color is soft but light and somehow effortlessly ties in multiple other colors together, including the browns and beiges from the backsplash tile into a beautiful, cohesive palette.

14. Looks Great with White Quartz Counters

The kitchen cabinets in this space from Columbia Metro are a true white, while the walls are softer, warmer Greek Villa.

This color scheme is looking lovely with the white quartz countertops, as well as that gray island, painted in Sherwin Williams Iron Ore.

SW Greek Villa Dining Rooms

15. Greek Villa Dining Room

Not only does Sherwin Williams Greek Villa look terrific in kitchens, but you can feel free to just carry it through to the dining room, as seen in this example from Emily Henderson.

Most whites look great with black, probably because they’re both so neutral.

Greek Villa Bathrooms

16. Looking Neutral Under Light Bulbs

It’s hard to find a paint that looks great in both artificial and natural light. But Greek Villa does a great job.

It’s timeless, gorgeous, and super neutral, even in this hall bathroom that appears to get very little natural light.

17. Bathroom Ceiling and Walls in Greek Villa Paint

House Homemade‘s bathroom has low natural light, but it also has cool-colored paint below Greek Villa, which pulls out our paint’s neutral side.

18. Brighten a Bathroom

Use Sherwin Williams Greek Villa to make a small bathroom look spacious!

Laundry & Mudrooms Using Greek Villa Paint

19. Mudroom in Sherwin Williams Greek Villa

When you want to create a classic, look no further. For assured timelessness, pair Greek Villa with black as seen here in this laundry room from Within the Grove. 😉

Greek Villa SW 7551: Your Perfect Soft White Paint Shade? (23)

20. Lovely Landing Zone

Sign me up for this mudroom! It has low natural light, so the paint looks a little creamier. But with that white-washed wood flooring, the room looks envy-worthy.

Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Exteriors

21. Works Well with Warm Gray

I love the warm, light gray door (SW Agreeable Gray) with Greek Villa siding. It looks inviting and welcoming.

22. Home Exterior in Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Paint

It’s white without being too white or fear of looking yellow or too creamy. I love Greek Villa as an exterior paint color as seen on this home via Houzz.

Greek Villa SW 7551: Your Perfect Soft White Paint Shade? (24)

23. Perfect on a Playhouse

Don’t forget about playhouse exteriors! Use Greek Villa as the main color and “accessorize” any way you want – this color can take it!

24. Pure as the Driven Snow (but not quite as stark white)

If snow is pure white (and it is!), then Greek Villa is just off-white enough that it doesn’t get lost in the snow. Instead, it looks right at home in it!

25. Camper Painted in Greek Villa

Campers have exteriors, too, and need a paint refresh once in a while! Lone Oak Design Co.‘s camper is another example of my favorite combo: Greek Villa and navy blue. And it turns out that it looks just as good out in the natural light as it does inside a house!

Other Homes Using SW Greek Villa

26. Beautiful with Brick

Ooooh, make sure you scroll through all the before, during, and after images of this remodel. Greek Villa (wall color) perfectly pairs with beige and brick. Trim color here? Accessible Beige.

27. Farmhouse-Friendly Paint Shade

Greek Villa may be inspired in the Mediterranean, but it works exceptionally well in farmhouse-style homes too. It somehow can work to make an area like this entryway area feel spacious yet cozy at the same time.

So…are you getting the same warm and cozy vibes that I am? Sherwin Williams Greek Villa is one of the few off-white colors that I recommend almost universally. What do you think of it?

Remember to sample before slathering a couple gallons on your wall! Better safe than sorry!

Pin this paint color for later! And if you use this paint shade, leave a comment on the pin! That helps others decide if they want to try this color, too!
