SITUATIONS - Pressure Is A Pleasure 2006 + EP

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (1)

Drunk'n'Roll Records/Wanda Records/No Front Teeth Records released this little slab in a handnumbered edition of 500 items and Situations from Berlin were: Stunk (vocals), Stummel (guitars), Kei Lee (bass), Gonzo (guitars) and Hupe (drums). I bought their EP Reibung at some concertmany moons agoand was immediately impressed by their fast wild garage sound,no song longer than two minutes.Significantly the power of both guitars which kick like a big sniff and tear down your walls. The EP has not done a lot of laps for a long time and I didn't know that they made an album at all and this is full with fourteendeliciouscrackers + the five EPbiscuits.

EA80 - Alle Ziele 2001

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (2)

Yesterday I had a slightly crappy day because the work was so damn hideous, so I went out and decided to walk at the main and listen to my friends ofEA80, don't think that when I feel bad put out the EA80 records, No! No! (rather Cure albums) but whenever I hear the Gladbacher I feel much better and so how it should be, right? Alle Ziele is the eighth album and one of their best, rough fat production (as Schweinegott 1998) and all songs are dynamic and powerful blasting right from the start. The highlight is the ten minute song "Waldmenschen" which is a superb example what great musicians they are and how much emotion can be put in one f*ckin' song and I didn't felt this by any other band. Who has seein' EA80 live knows what I'm talking about. Lyrically, as always, very demanding and critical, and those people who put this band in a "depro" drawer has nothin' understood or are deaf and blind. I know, I praise the guys very high but many fans confirmed this through their numerous visits at EA80 gigs and that's not always easy. Alle Ziele is a further milestone in the EA80 discography and far away from the traditional punk crap. Glorious vinyl rip made to play always loud!!!!!

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (4)

Schlemihl Records released this proper record in a limited of 1000 hand-numbered copies with eight rare songs from Müllstation and Dog Food Five.Müllstation is a punk band from Eisleben in Saxony-Anhalt and were founded in 1980 in the GDR and is now one of the longest activePunkbands in the East, members are Harty Sachse ("Steve Aktiv", vocals) and Frank Baur (bass), at first the band used pots as drums and a homemade guitar. In 1982 the band met in front of the Palace of theRepublic in East Berlin with two presenters from the NDR (Tim Renner and Thomas Meins) and these two took Müllstation and the band Menschrock for recordingsto Hamburg and these were played on 20 September 1982 in thebroadcast"Club" on NDR 2.Over the years they often played in the Christusgemeinde in Halle along with bands such as Schleim-Keim, Wutanfall, Größenwahnand Betonromanze. Susanne "Susi" Horn on bass as well as Volker Eschke and Mike Beelitz on guitars joined the band later. Resolution 1989 and Reunion in 1990, Frank Baur took over the guitar parts and Ralf "Ralle" Brauer came as new drummer, but was soon byRoy Hoffmann and finally in 1995 by Jürgen "Grahli" Grahl (previously at Abraum and NFP) replaced. At the end of the 1990s Melanie Stütz joined the band as new bassist, since 2002 then Alex Zschaege (previously KVD, NFP). Frank Baur and Jürgen Grahl are also working with non-Müllstation member Toralf Schwarz still in a side project called The Morlox. The Morlox play surf with Slavic influences.

Dog Food Five was founded in the summer of 1991. At a time when punk was considered a deadly serious, ideological issue, there were five mid-twenties, old friends and then something of a veteran of the local band scene, in a rehearsal room in Kassel in Hessentogether to make songs in the style of Sex Pistols, Adverts & Dead Boys. Their quasi-postmodern look at the role models was perhapsa bit more distant than was the case with other punk bands of the time. So they had no problems with it, Rockabilly elements,Sixties Garage, New Wave, Surf & Psychedelic Rock in their music. To make the whole thing clear, they decided toSuits and ties, which amazed an audience that was accustomed to bands in military trousers, T-shirts and Lumberjack shirts to see. In the end, Dog Food Five, with its wild, raw sound, was also the purist of the punk sceneconvince and also attract people to punk concerts, which actually did not have so much to do with such music.Dog Food Five soon had a record deal and four albums, a split LP and a hand appeared in the next nine yearsfull of singles. Bands like Müllstation and the Shocks covered their songs. In addition, Dog Food Five played hundreds of concerts in half of Europe, thelast Christmas 2000 in their hometown Kassel. At that time, playing with stereotypes had become a cliché. Punkattitude wasmeanwhile become mainstream. Every second band musically relied on the punk and garage canon and suits on stagePunk clubs were such a common sight that nobody could shock them anymore.

UNITED BALLS - Pogo In Togo 1980

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (5)

The United Balls were founded in Munich 1980 by former musician Jörg Evers, who produced the song Pogo In Togo, a KILLER! track. It reached #1 in Australia and New Zealand and No. 14 in the charts. Later followed by minor hits in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The origins of the combo were in a school band at the Munich Gisela-Gymnasium mid-seventies. The naming was difficult, first "Teen Quo Vadis", then inspired by the current Bauwut "U-Bahnschacht". Soon, the abbreviation "UBS" was preferred, after which the desire for an English name was created, which should be derived from the abbreviation "UBS". The answer was "United Balls".After the first successful live performances in the legendary Schwabing Rigan Club, the band was signed by Jupiter Recordswhere they released two albums. In 1993 singer and composer Harry Kulzer left the band; the remaining members tried in English-speaking guitar pop. In 2005, the band returned in original cast with a performance in Munich on the stage. On May 7, 2011, they presented after 29 years again a CD in original cast.Singer and guitarist Horst Lindhofer studied biology and founded after his doctorate the company Trion Pharma, which together with Fresenius Biotech as the first German biotech company brought a recombinant antibody for approval and marketability. In the 2007 movie Mia Sn Dageng, United Balls call themselves a punk band.Sportfreunde Stiller and several punk bands covered the hit song Pogo in Togo.

AXODRY - Surrender 12'' 1984

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (6)

Yeah, victory in Hoffenheim and I'm in the mood to postsomething completely new and I must confess, I grew up with this band and I have only two records left. Let me give you a bit info:Axodry was the duo of Andreas “Talla 2XLC” Tomalla and Ralf “Ra/Hen” Henrich formed in Frankfurt/Main in 1982. The two met at City Music record store where Talla 2XLC worked and supplied the local DJ scene with dance 12”s. From 1984 to 1991 they released six 12” singles. Both members were leading figures in the European electronic scene during the 80’s and 90’s, forming bands like Bigod 20, Tribantura, Micro Chip League, Moskwa TV, Pluuto and Robotiko Rejekto. In 1988 they released the maxi 12” single “You” on ZYX Records/Combeat. Influenced by Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and John Foxx, the duo crafted their own brand of Industrial, Synth Pop and Electronic Body Music. Their basic set up for recording songs at RaHen’s home studio was a Moog Rouge, Roland SH-101, Teisco synthesizer, Linn Drum and Fricke sequencer. Ra/Hen tackles vocal duties and sings about longing for a lost love. Included on this reissue are the Beauty & The Beat Mix and Beasty Dub Mix from the 1988 single. On the flip is the slightly sped up Razormaid Remix, performed by Art Maharg and Joseph Watt, that originally appeared on the “Welcome To The Technodrome” compilation in 1989. Also included is “Mechanic”, originally released in 1991 as the B-side for their final single “Losing You”. OK folks, that was a lot for today and I guess there is something for everyone.

DAILY TERROR - Andere Zeiten 12'' 1999

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (7)

Always welcome are Daily Terror from Braunschweig, today with their early recordings. The first three from the BS-Punx EP (No Fun Records,1980), #4appeared on the essential compilation Soundtracks Zum Untergang (AGR, 1980, tracks 5 + 6 originally released on the compilation Hannover Fun Fun Fun (No Fun Records, 1980) and the last three wereoriginally released as Klartext EP (AGR 1982).The idea for this had the small Bochum label Dirty Faces andthey packed lots of information, liner notes: Pedder† 11.04.2009,in the booklet with all the lyrics and a complete discography. You can clearly see here the rough sound, the offensive words and the pure anti-attitude of the band which they continued brilliantly on their first two albums. For me one of the most important German punk band whose music invariably infects you,if not go home.

THE BOIKOTTZ - Another Kind Of Humor 1987

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (8)

Of course we start today with a German record on this cold gray day off and we listen to: Jan (vocals), Stephan (bass), Christian & Lemmi (guitars) and Ander (drums),Hamburg old punk legends with their only album, as I know there exist just one pressing on white vinyl. Fourteen songs withmostly english and german lyrics. Solid fast punk rock mixed with beautiful pissed-off lyrics and the album is a total kicker.Too bad the guys have not made more. They released in 1984 their first EP Punk Wird Leben via AGR which is pretty rare andshould have anybody a copy you are a womanizer...Now a cold jever for breakfast and let's see what I continue to unpack.

TOXOPLASMA - s/t LP 1983

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (9)

Ahhhhh, the monitor problem is fixed and finally it goes forward in this theatre and I throw another german punk classicout. Toxoplasma came from Neuwied and were founded 1980 by Wally (vox), Stefan (bass), Harry (drums) andMarkus (guitar), who was replaced after only a few samples by Uwe. The band name derives from the infectious disease toxoplasmosis, in which the singer Wally fell ill in the late 1970s.In 1981 they released a demo and one year later the band was represented on the German-American compilation Underground Hits of the Berlin label Aggressive Rockproduktionen (AGR) with three pieces, where they published the first album in the following year.At the same time, the band went on tour with the American reggae/hardcore punx Bad Brains through Germany. After this tour, Stefan switched to Canal Terror as drummer and Thomas "Mitch" Michel joined the band as bassist. In 1985, Harry got out too. After further changes and failures, the band broke up in 1986 for the first time.In the early 1990s Wally, Mitch and Uwe recorded with a drum computer new records with metal influence andthat was it then for me. Their debut is still a great recordand belongs definitely one of the top twenty German punk slabs.

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (10)

Bad news folks, I think my computer f*cked up because all I see is pink and it makes really no fun to work with this sh*t so this willbe for now the last post and after Crete I see how it goes on. Inferno is a great german hardcore band from Augsburg/Bavaria and formed in the early years of 1982. This is their debut album on Mülleimer Records andthe music is a sheer pleasure. Most of the songs are fast, thrash-speed punk rock, although Inferno slow it down for mid-tempo songsand often add a melodic element as well.Lyrically the band seems to have good intentions, but don't really break any new ground."Ram It Up" is kind of dumb, but really just seems to be German teenagers trying to be "punk" & singing in English a second language.Overall it's nicely done, but suffers a little bit from not really standing out in any area. Anyway, with twenty tracks is this a solid record andeven Pushead was very pleased. Check them on these Compilations.

KENNZEICHEN D - Gestört 1981

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (12)

Very rare album by Kennzeichen D on Moderne Musik andthe band consisted ofKalle (vocals & bass), Peter (guitars), & Willi (drums), founded in Lindern, nearby Cloppenburg (Lower-Saxony) and were active between 1979-1981.Charming the simple 8-Spur productionwhich impress me and make some D-Punk records of the early 80's look old. I meanthere are many countless famous records, many of them here in the blog, but I like such recrdings, somehow more authentic and I can imagine very well how it must have been back then in the studio. You have Bock to make music, start a band, write a few songseverything that bothers you, collect money and with a little luck there is the opportunity to ban these on vinyland at concerts frenetic applause from 50-100 inveterate fellow campaigners. The slab is pressed in smalleditionand after thirty years it becomes a wantedrarity and you can say: I was there! What remains:Once punk, always punk! And now have fun, enjoy twelve times KZD and stay disturbed.

WUT - Kapitalismus 1986

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (13)

Awesome Killer Stuff now by this great band from Langenfeld. WUT were founded in 1983 bySchetty (vocals),Holger (bass),Oli (guitars) &Jörg (drums) and their first release came two years later in form of a split EP "Their Last Testament/Everything Ever Seen - Everything Ever Heard!" with Rotting Carcass on More Fun Records and also in 1985 their only album Kapitalismus via Double A, 1990 another split 12'' with Sons Of Sadism, also Double A Records.I quote the band from the insert:

"We are four individuals who've come together about 2½ years ago to express our attitude to life through music. However, we do not understand music as an end in itself, but as a step out of our own impotence, the powerlessness that we experience every day when we look at the state of this world.

Our system is based on the exploitation of the masses, the developing countries and nature. It relies on brainwashing in schools, psychiatry, factories, barracks, and in the media, where it sells consumer goods as a substitute for interpersonal relationships, living off alienation from one another. It educates people to selfish money-hungry intolerant dependent self-employed labor-bearing and consuming machines. This is the world of gross national product, the 5-year plan, the suicide rate ...

The music creates a free space, a medium through which we can express our thoughts and feelings. On the other hand, it's just fun for us, a fun that gives us more than the full of fun, aggression and walls of coolness marked 'fun' of the well-known 'jokers' at countless concerts, meetings and other places.

Through the band, we also got to know people we might never have met otherwise, people who make us rich with a lot of positive experiences and the confirmation to do something useful. The people we have known for some time, who have experienced our way and whom we love! And all those we do not know, but who may be on the same path as us, we dedicate this album! Love & Strength to those who resist.

There are days when people question all the beautiful ideals that they laboriously built up, because the feeling is quickly spreading that nothing will change anyway, especially when sees that unconditional adaptation to this power money-driven society is rewarded by a secure content (??) existence, as long as man does not come up with the idea to ask the meaning of such an existence. We can not let ourselves be lulled by the ignorance of the masses who are only interested in their beer supply, their new carand the length of their co*cks. Keep your own head and live your life!"

MITTAGSPAUSE - s/t CD 2004

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (14)

Before Fehlfarben was Mittagspause. The glory of Mittagspause is bigger than their song repertoire. Three singles appeared during the life of the band, as well as contributions to two samplers. Musically, the band had swum early from the traditional punk and the stylistic device of the irony discovered for itself. Their fame is based mainly on the sovereign and non-pathetic handling of their singer PeterHein with the german language. Mittagspause came in 1978 from the early Düsseldorf punk band Charley's Girls and persistedfrom Peter Hein, Franz Bielmeier on bass & guitar, as well as founder of the Rondo label, the drummer and later painter MarcusOehlen, as well as formerS.Y.P.H.guitarist Thomas Schwebel. The first cast also included the later DAF singer GabiDelgado-Lopez. Already in 1980 the band disintegrated, their last studio recordings remained unpublished for more than ten years. Hein + Schwebel devoted himselfs to the Fehlfarben, Oehlen of art and art music (Vielleichtors/Red Krayola) and Bielmeier next to his label Rondo the drugs. Fortunately, they have tried a reunion so far, but a retrospective with unpublishedMaterial in preparation, and also Mr. Bielmeier lets under the pseudonym "Sister Ray" again hear music...

Captain Trip Records from Tokyo has finally packed all studio recordings of the band on a CD in 2004. All shots are from1979. The five previously unreleased live recordings, including a cover version of Trios "Da Da Da" date from 1983 & the CD was mastered in the Atatak Studios by Pyrolator.

WALTER ELF - Heut' Oder Nie 1987

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (15)

Walter Elf are German punx from Kaiserslautern founded in 1983. The band name refers to the nickname of the 1.FC Kaiserslautern in the 1950s, based on Fritz Walter and the so-called "Walter Elf". Most members are today active in Kick Joneses and they existed from 1982 to 1991.Together with the Spermbirds, with whom they also shared most of the band members, the band belonged to the flagships of the Kaiserslautern punk scene. After a demo they released their debut album onWe Bite Records and we have eleven nice melodic mid-tempo goodies with funny lyrics.I would not call them fun-punk,rather unpolitical &jocular with muchfun doing music, this album was recorded by:Beppo (vocals), Frank & Jürgen (guitars), Markus (bass), Roger (drums), Alex (trumpets) and Lee (vocals). In their life span were madefive albums, a few 7Inches + many compilation contributions, one of them the Awup! EP onUnsere Kleine Welt. After their farewell concert on December 17, 1991 in theKulturzentrum Kammgarnin Kaiserslautern, the band played onDecember 20, 2002 and on December 30, 2005 each again "one-time" Reunion concerts at the same venue, as well as on 27 & 28 December 2008, both were sold out. In addition, they performed on 21.July 2007 as part of the Back-To-Future Festival on theHalbinsel Pouchnear Leipzig. In 2010, the band released their first record since 1991 on July 30 in form of an EP, "Männer In Rot", a tribute to the 1. FCK. There was also an appearance at the Kuseler Festival Kein Bock auf Nazis. The question of whether further appearances will follow in the future was answered by Schattner: "We let everything come to us. A tour or a new album are certainly not planned. After all, there is also Kick Joneses."Enough words, now it's party time!

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (16)

Inspired by Woltis post last wednesdayI dug up this record which unfortunately I don't have anymore. Released viaAggressive Rockproduktionen was this the first punk record from the DDRwhich came on a conspiratorial route from the GDR to West Berlin and is officially appeared only in the West. For years it was the only publication of its kind. The creation of DDR Von Unten occupied the Ministry of State Security for several years, the repression almost exclusively the band mucus germ concerned. Two unofficial employees (IM) were involved in the creation, including the much appreciated alternative writer Sascha Anderson. Zwitschermaschine were founded in Dresden andshine with experimental punk noises while Sau-Kerle from Erfurt play dirty fast Polit/Hardcore/Punk, the band is better known as Schleim-Keim (listen).Approx. 1500 - 4000 were made andmore infos in the file.

V/A - Three Wins 2018

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (17)

This post is a recommendation of three German bands that deserve your attention and with a click on the orange band name you get the music.

BLANKER HOHN - s/t LP 1984

HERBÄRDS - Eu! Se Bois 1983

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (22)

The Herbärds were founded 1982 in Stuttgart by Jörn (bass), Moppel (drums), Oimel (guitar) and Tek (vocals). They originated from the oi/punk band Total Kaputt, which Oimel founded at the turn of the year 1978/79 and in which Jörn already played and the Herbärds are considered one of the first German Oi! bands. 1983 they contribute two songs on the Ultra Hardcore Power compilation and shortly thereafter they released their debut album Eu! Se Bois on Mülleimer Records (007) and the songs were recorded on one day live in a small studio near Stuttgart with lots of beer and good mood. On the second day a song was mixed as a basic setting, a few effects of a noise plate to it, plenty of beer and the recording was done. During this time they played many live gigs, especially in southern Germany. On small punk festivals and some together with the friendly punk band Normahl. But also with sizes like co*ckney Rejects.

In 1984 Micha joined a saxophonist and extended the previous oi-punk with ska influences and 1985, Micha, Jörn and Moppel got out and Willi came in on drums and new bassist Timo. One year later the second album Wakos appeared on Rat Records. Shortly thereafter the musical direction changed again and the band renamed themselves first in Balzer Ross and then in Overload. 1987 singer Tek had a serious motorcycle accident in which he lost a leg and the band paused after this shock. Two songs WirandGoldfieber appeared on the first Tollschock compilation on Pedder's label Skan Productions in 1989. Ein Kurzer Augenblick followed on the second part of the Tollschock series. All three songs Tek played with friendly musicians, under the old band name Herbärds. 1999 Oimel and Tek decided to provide the Herbärds with fresh wind again. They were supported by Macke on bass and Rolf on drums. In 2000 the third album Wir Sind Zurück was released on Teenage Rebel Records and Eu! Se Bois as CD with black cover. There were also live concerts in Stuttgart and Freiburg. 2017 then the live comeback, as part of the book presentation with exhibition: Wie Der Punk Nach Stuttgart Kam.

WhyDoThingsHaveToChange (23)

I still have a quick one: the Nerds from Frankfurt were a three piece combo, Andi Social (vox/bass), Stephan (guitar/vox) and Felix (drums) and they released two 7inches via the Get Happy! label in the early 90s and I think of both 500 copies were pressed. The three played lots of gigs in the Rhine-Main area, especially in the Batschkapp they were a welcome act and with their powerful punk sound they always inflamed the crowd that it was a real pleasure. Wild, hectic and always catchy without end. Unfortunately never had so much attention that they deserved and so the band remained relatively unknown.Well, with a total of 1000 copies of both 7inches this was hardly possible or just not wanted and since I'm a dear contemporary, both are united in this file. Over & Out!
